Displaid drives innovation in infrastructure monitoring closing a 1.2 million round
Press Release
Displaid round 1.2 milioni
Displaid raises €1.2 M to make infrastructures safer and efficient with AI
The Milan-based deep tech startup secures funding from Club degli Investitori, Growth Engine, Sensible Capital, CDP Venture Capital, and several business angels.

Milan, July 17, 2025 - Displaid, a deep tech startup founded in 2023 by four PhDs from Politecnico di Milano, has announced the closing of its first funding round, raising €1.2 million to revolutionise the monitoring and management of bridges and viaducts.

The round was backed by members of Club degli Investitori through Simon Fiduciaria, Growth Engine (via the A-Road acceleration and fundraising program launched by Growth Capital), Sensible Capital, CDP Venture Capital (through the CrossConnect Accelerator program, with co-investors Plug and Play Tech Center and ELIS), and a group of business angels.

Before this round, Displaid grew through bootstrapping, pilot projects, and commercial contracts that allowed the team to refine its technology and prove its value. With the new capital, the company will accelerate its growth by expanding the team, entering new markets, and developing innovative solutions to make infrastructure maintenance smarter, safer, and more sustainable.

Founded by Lorenzo Benedetti (CEO), Francesco Morgan Bono (CTO), Luca Radicioni (COO), and Giancarlo Donizzelli (CFO), Displaid has grown into a 10-person team and is supported by a network of international advisors, including Carlo Ratti, Director of the MIT Senseable City Lab in Boston.

On a mission to revolutionise infrastructure management, Displaid leverages artificial intelligence and smart sensors to monitor bridges. The sensors collect real-time data, which is then analysed by proprietary AI algorithms to detect anomalies. This enables infrastructure operators to take proactive measures, improving both safety and efficiency.

«Infrastructures are pivotal for the socio-economic development of any country, yet it often takes tragic events to bring attention to their relevance» said Lorenzo Benedetti,Co-founder and CEO of Displaid. «This is where our mission begins: providing a concrete, scalable solution for intelligent, proactive, and widespread infrastructure management. We bring advanced technology to support operators and public administrations in monitoring, prevention, and long-term planning.»

Displaid aims to be the enabler of a new generation of infrastructure: smart, connected, and dynamic. Already adopted by major operators such as Ferrovienord and the ASTM Group, as well as public administrations like the Metropolitan City of Florence and the Municipality of Narni (TR), Displaid’s solution allows bridges to “speak.” By transforming structural data into actionable insights, passive assets turn into systems capable of communicating, predicting issues, and optimizing maintenance efforts.

Among the notable investors in this round is Silvia Rovere, President of Poste Italiane, Managing Partner at Sensible Capital, and member of Club degli Investitori, who championed the deal within the Club:

«Infrastructure plays a strategic role in the competitiveness and growth of the country. Investing in Displaid - a proptech platform enabling efficient and predictive management - represents a unique opportunity for Sensible Capital and Club degli Investitori to foster innovation in a sector that needs scalable and sustainable solutions.»

Stefano Molino, Head of the Accelerator Fund at CDP Venture Capital followed up and added:

«This investment perfectly aligns with the mission of CrossConnect: to support entrepreneurs developing cutting-edge solutions for physical and digital infrastructure. Displaid’s AI-based technology makes a concrete contribution to infrastructure safety and accelerates the country’s digital transition in line with NRRP objectives.»

Finally, Fabio Mondini de Focatiis, Founder of Growth Engine, commented on the investment:

«We invested in Displaid because of the team’s deep expertise and the solution’s strong potential in a market that has seen little innovation in decades. Their technology, based on AI and sensors, can transform how infrastructure is managed—improving safety and efficiency in a scalable, sustainable way.»

Displaid was advised on the transaction by CII3 Advisors, a boutique advisory firm specialized in providing strategic and operational support to innovative companies.
